The cab shell is made from Dupont's Cordura. If you're not familiar with Cordura, it meets standards for toughness, abrasion and is scuff, puncture and tear resistant. It's stronger than standard nylons, polypropylene, vinyl, cotton and leather. Other well-received incorporations to the Bug Cab include high quality brass zippers, cold weather plastic windows and a rugged PVC frame. In short, it's one tough hombre.
The distinguishing visual hump gives the appearance of being top-heavy. This isn't the case as the entire system weighs less than 20 pounds and doesn't interfere with the quads' dynamics. Installation
Next, fit the upright supports into the cross tees then snap the uprights into the front and rear bases. It snaps together easily in a few minutes. The next step is to unfold the Cordura cover and slip it over the framework. (Be sure to tie the attachment straps and fold all the Velcro flaps over the framework.) The lower portion of the cover is made of black vinyl which must be custom cut to match up with your particular quad's fender openings. The last step is to install the male end of the snap clips to the fenders using the supplied plastic rivets. This is easily accomplished because the male portion of the clips are attached to a black piece of webbing. By sliding this webbing between the fenders, it is held fast by the rivet. Now, just punch and crimp the female half of the snap in the proper location on the lower portion of the Bug Cover.
Determining the practical value of the Bug Cab didn't take long at all. After a few times on the trail, it became apparent that it was a useful item made from quality materials. Becoming even more useful as the weather progressively gets worse. We could travel in rain or a snowstorm in all-day comfort. With the windows zipped closed and the lower portion snapped tight, heat generated from the engine filters into the cab. It wasn't necessary to wear our winter riding gloves. Neat! After several months of heavy use, the cab cover showed no sign of wear. Considering that the overall height of the cab is over 6-feet, you might think there would be a problem when traveling through overgrown trails. Actually, small trees and brush were pushed aside. This is due to the strong, well-made framework and durability of the 1000 Denier Cordura outer shell. Another desirable feature is the simplicity in which the outer shell is removed for regular trail riding. Just untie a few laces and undo the Velcro straps. This enables the cover to just slide off, be folded, and strapped to your racks until reaching your destination.
